FAQs
Everything you need to know about working with us on your custom door or millwork project
Getting Started
Common questions about beginning your project
How do I start a custom door or millwork project?
The process begins with an initial consultation. You can contact us by phone, email, or through our website form. We’ll discuss your project vision, take measurements if needed, and provide a detailed proposal with design options and pricing.
What information do I need to provide a quote?
For an accurate quote, we typically need: the type of project (door, flooring, cabinetry, etc.), approximate dimensions, preferred wood species, finish preferences, and any specific design requirements. Photos of the existing space are also helpful.
How long does the consultation process take?
Initial consultations typically take 30-60 minutes. For complex projects, we may schedule a follow-up visit to take precise measurements and discuss detailed specifications. We provide proposals within 5-7 business days of the consultation.
Do you offer design services?
Yes, we provide complete design services including CAD drawings, shop drawings, and 3D renderings for complex projects. Our in-house design team works closely with you to refine every detail before fabrication begins.
Design and Customization
Understanding your options for custom work
Can you match existing woodwork in my home?
Absolutely. We specialize in matching existing millwork profiles, wood species, and finishes. We can create custom samples to ensure a perfect match before full production begins.
What wood species do you work with?
We work with a wide range of premium hardwoods including Mahogany, Oak (White and Red), Walnut, Cherry, Maple, and many others. We hand-select each piece for grain continuity and quality.
Can you create custom design from my sketches or photos?
Yes, we regularly work from client sketches, photographs, and inspiration images. Our design team can translate your vision into detailed technical drawings and bring it to life.
What finish options are available?
We offer natural stains, custom color-matched paints, and various topcoats (satin, semi-gloss, high-gloss, matte). All pieces are finished on all six sides in our climate-controlled facility for maximum durability.
Production and Installation
What to expect during manufacturing and installation
How long does production typically take?
Production timelines vary by project complexity. Custom doors typically take 8-12 weeks from approval. Complex millwork projects may take 12-16 weeks. We provide specific timelines with every proposal.
How do you handle installation?
Whether you already have an installer, or using one of our preferred installers, we can provide comprehensive guides, with optional on-site support to ensure flawless results.
Can I visit your workshop during production?
We welcome clients to visit our Maryland Heights facility. Seeing your project in progress helps you appreciate the craftsmanship involved and allows for any last-minute refinements.
What happens if there's a delay?
We maintain transparent communication throughout the project. If any delays occur due to material availability or production scheduling, we notify you immediately and provide updated timelines.
Maintenance and Warranty
Caring for your investment
What warranty do you offer?
We stand behind our craftsmanship with a comprehensive warranty. Custom doors carry a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Specific warranty terms are provided with each project proposal.
Can you refinish or repair existing doors?
Yes, we offer refinishing and restoration services for both our doors and quality doors from other makers. We can restore historic doors to their original beauty while maintaining period authenticity.
What if I need to make changes after installation?
We’re here to support you long-term. Minor adjustments are typically covered under warranty. For modifications or additions, we provide priority scheduling for existing clients.
