COMMON QUESTIONS
FAQs - Custom Wood Doors in St. Louis
Answers to the questions we hear most often before a custom door project begins.
What is the production lead time for a custom wood door?
Custom doors typically take 8–12 weeks from design approval to delivery, depending on species, complexity, and glass elements. We provide a specific production schedule with every proposal and update you if anything changes.
Can you build doors to non-standard sizes or unusual openings?
Yes, non-standard sizing is one of the core reasons clients come to us. We regularly fabricate doors for openings that no stock door will fit: oversized entries, historic proportions, arched tops, angled sidelites, and custom transoms. If it can be measured, we can build it.
Which wood species do you recommend for exterior doors?
For exterior applications, we most frequently recommend Mahogany and Sapele, all offer excellent dimensional stability and resistance to moisture and UV exposure. However, the right choice depends on your design goals, finish preference, and level of direct sun exposure. We guide you through this during the consultation.
Do you supply and coordiante the hardware?
Yes. Through our established partnerships with premier hardware manufacturers, we supply, specify, and fully coordinate all hardware components, including handlesets, hinges, multi-point locks, thresholds, and sweeps, as an integrated part of your complete door package.
Can you match an existing door we already have on site?
Matching existing doors is something we do frequently for additions, replacements, and multi-door projects where consistency matters. We work from photos, measurements, and physical samples to recreate profiles, panel configurations, and finish tones within very tight tolerances.
Do you handle professional installation?
Yes. Our installation team handles delivery, framing coordination, door hanging, hardware installation, and final adjustment. For projects outside our primary service area, we can provide detailed installation packages for your GC or finish carpenter.
What warranty comes with a custom Scobis door?
All custom doors carry a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Hardware warranties are passed through from the manufacturer. Specific warranty terms are included with every project proposal.
